From Marie Ford Palmer, International Vice President-Membership:
With spring in the air, many chapters are turning their thoughts and energies toward Formal Recruitment this fall. The Membership Team has been doing the same! In order to simplify things, the Recruitment Information Form (RIF), which will now be called the Recruitment Recommendation (or “Rec” for short), has been revised to replace both the RIF and Legacy Introduction Form (LIF). Sisters may now indicate legacy relationship directly on the Rec instead of completing a separate form!
Legacy information and policies are outlined in the Rec. There is one new important note regarding legacies: If the legacy is released from recruitment by the chapter, a phone call will only be made to the legacy connection if the correct contact information was provided. Additionally, a select few chapters that receive a high volume of recommendations are not required to call the legacy connection. (Only International Council grants this type of permission.)
The second page of the Rec is a Supplemental Activities Form. If you would like to attach a detailed resume, you won’t need to complete this page. Feel free to attach photographs and transcripts, too.
As a reminder, alumnae and collegiate members in Good Standing may write recommendations, which you can download here. Or you can download it from the Resource Center of myAlphaGam, located in the General Fraternity Materials folder. Once you complete the Rec, it can be mailed directly to the chapter. If you don’t know the chapter’s address, you can visit the Fraternity’s website and click on Chapter Locator.
It is the hope of the Membership Team that the new Rec will be easier for sisters to complete and will continue to serve as a great way for chapters to identify women who Live with Purpose.
